Race Cars, but no books – more national libraries

On a sunny, blisteringly hot Sunday in July, we stopped by the National Széchényi Library, which is in the castle district of Buda. We had expected it to be closed, but we had no idea that it would be overrun by a street fair celebrating the Hungarian Grand Prix. So no books, but we got a picture of the cars!

By the way, I just noticed that the Hungarian National Union catalogue is called “Mokka.” Perhaps you could accompany your coffee and catalogue searching with a baked good from Kaffeehaus by Rick Rodgers? This book is a really great read, and good fuel for daydreaming about both travel and decadent eating. I haven’t had the chance to make any recipes (except for a traditional recipe for almond crescents, and I don’t count that, since it was very very similar to one I have used before). I’m looking forward to heading out to pick-your-own and farmers’ markets to buy some strawberries and raspberries for strawberry cream torte and raspberry-yogurt torte. Yum!

Read any good cookbooks lately?
